Gardenia brown leaves: Answer: gardenia

Dear Carmen,
apartment gardenias are often affected by leaf pests, which you should however notice on the underside of the leaves; if you find any, treat your plant with a pyrethrum-based insecticide.
If the leaves become completely brown it could be a fungal problem, especially if the plant often remains with very wet soil, completely soaked with water.
If this is your case, you should try to water your plant only when the soil tends to dry out, and increase the environmental humidity, not through watering, but occasionally vaporizing the foliage.
