Growing tips

Tomatoes of the "Orange Heart" variety are best propagated by seedlings. Seeds are sown in February, before planting they are treated with a growth stimulator for better germination. The substrate is made up of a mixture of garden soil with humus.

Preferred soil on which grew herbs, carrots, cabbage or legumes. You should not take the land from the beds where eggplants or tomatoes grew. Wood ash, potassium sulfate or superphosphate are added to the substrate.

Seeds are sown with a minimum depth (no more than 1.5 cm). After emergence, the containers are exposed to bright light and carefully watered from a watering can or spray bottle. When the first pair of true leaves unfold on the seedlings, young tomatoes dive, and then they are fed with a liquid complex fertilizer with a predominance of nitrogen.

The seedlings are moved to the greenhouse in the second half of May, to the beds - closer to the beginning of June. It is recommended to cover the tomatoes planted to the ground with a film. For 1 sq. m 2-3 bushes are placed.

Humus is laid out on the holes, after planting, the soil is compacted and watered with warm water. During the season, tomatoes are fed 3-4 times with a full complex fertilizer, which can be alternated with an aqueous solution of a mullein.

The grown plants are formed into 2 stems, removing the lateral stepsons and lower leaves. After the beginning of flowering, it is recommended to pinch off the deformed or small flowers on the brushes. This procedure stimulates the formation of ovaries, the fruits will be larger.

Diseases and pests

Orange Heart tomatoes are resistant to major diseases, but preventive measures will not hurt. Frequent ventilation, loosening of the soil with the removal of weeds, careful watering without stagnation of moisture in the soil will help against top or root rot.

You can get rid of insect pests with the help of industrial insecticides or celandine infusion. They work great on thrips, spider mites, whiteflies. Slugs can be killed with a solution of ammonia; aphids are washed off with warm water and laundry soap.
